Celebrating Certification – Grown in Britain Week 2024
3 October 2024
Grown in Britain Week 2024 takes place 7–13 October this year, with each day celebrating achievements across different areas of business. Woodsure is proud to be taking part this year, with Monday’s theme of ‘Celebrating Certification’ aligning with our values and highlighting the importance of certification across a variety of timber sectors.
Grown in Britain
Grown in Britain is an independent not-for-profit organisation with the mission of developing a positive change in attitudes towards British wood to ensure the future success of British woodlands and forests. Grown in Britain’s work is split into four key areas: certification, biosecurity, woodland creation and nature capital, and research and development. The aim of these four areas all link back to caring for British woodlands, encouraging the use of sustainable materials, and adding value to UK timber, benefitting locally sourced wood and reducing unnecessary imports.

Celebrating Certification
As the UK’s only wood fuel quality assurance scheme, the importance of certification is central to Woodsure and we are keen to celebrate the benefits it brings to UK forestry. Our mission has British forests and sustainability at its core, and it is great seeing so many other organisations celebrating their achievements, too.
Woodsure certification shows consumers the suppliers and products they can trust; from fell to supply, Woodsure certified wood fuel has assured sustainability, creating a ripple effect across the supply chain that encourages the growth of sustainably managed forests and the use of locally sourced timber.
Woodsure is proud to be part of a positive change across UK forestry. We support all other organisations and initiatives taking action to sustain, develop, and grow British forestry.
You can find your local Woodsure suppliers that hold Grown in Britain certification through our Supplier Search.
Collaboration across organisations, suppliers, stakeholders, and passionate individuals is essential to creating change. British forests and those involved in forestry can utilise their unique areas of expertise to work together and drive positive change. Collaborative efforts and celebrations such as Grown in Britain Week 2024 highlight the hard work taking place every day across a range of sectors to protect the future welfare of British forestry. If left behind, the effects of poorly managed British woodlands could cause potentially disastrous effects on our local environment and the animals, people, and wildlife living in it. Initiatives that protect our forests are vital and Woodsure is proud to be part of this positive change as the UK’s only wood fuel quality assurance scheme.
Choosing Woodsure certified wood fuels from a Grown in Britain Approved supplier assures that your wood fuel is supporting sustainability across Britain. Caring for British woodlands benefits our environment; healthy, sustainably managed British woodlands protect our local timber supply, in turn protecting consumers and the environment.
