Chimney Fire Safety Week 2018 (3rd – 9th September) aims to raise consumer awareness on the necessities of regular chimney and appliance maintenance and use, as well as how essential good quality fuel is to keeping your chimney system in safe, working condition. Since Chimney Fire Safety Week started in 2009 chimney fires have generally reduced in frequency. However, there were still 5,362 recorded chimney fires in the UK between April 2016 to March 2017 and 2520 recorded chimney fires in Ireland in 2016 which could have been prevented.
