Ready to Burn
For registrants of the Ready to Burn schemes, you should have received your personalised certification logo to use alongside your certified fuel, which will have your company name and certificate number.
Woodsure administers the Ready to Burn scheme for firewood and brand guidelines with full details and correct use of the certification logo can be found here.
Correct certification logo for wood fuel with a red border:
The Ready to Burn scheme for manufactured solid fuels (MSF) is administered by HETAS and MSF brand guidelines can be found here, with full details of the certification logo and correct use.
Correct certification logo for MSF with a black border:
The Ready to Burn certification logo can only be used on the packaging of a certified product or on marketing material for the product. It should display the company name and certificate number and apply to that specific certified fuel.
Things to remember:
- DO NOT alter the contents of the Logo in any way.
- DO NOT stretch or rotate the Logo, change its colour, add a border, or personalise its appearance.
- DO NOT place the Logo on bright colours, especially if these are similar or clashing with those used in the Logo itself.
- DO NOT change the proportions of any elements of the Logo.
- PLEASE NOTE that the legislation makes it possible for local authorities to issue fixed penalty notices for offences without the need for a conviction.

Guidance for wholesalers/retailers
The wholesaler/retailer is responsible for storing the product so that it does not compromise the fuel (separate guidance is available) and ensuring that the accredited supplier’s Ready to Burn Certification Logo is clearly displayed.
If you have certified products from more than one supplier, then please make sure that the relevant Ready to Burn Certification Logo is used against the correct product.
You will find further details in the brand guidelines linked above.
If you have not received your certification logo or have any queries about using the Ready to Burn certification logo, please contact Woodsure for wood fuel or HETAS for MSF.
BSL
The Biomass Suppliers List (BSL) is a list of woodfuel that has proven it meets the eligibility requirements for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. It allows RHI participants to easily demonstrate to Ofgem that the fuel they are using in their biomass boilers meets the sustainability criteria required to claim their RHI payments.
The BSL Authorised Mark can only be used in conjunction with authorised fuel(s) and must only be used in green, grey shades, or black colours.
See the BSL brand guidelines for full details and correct use.
Correct logo:
Please contact the BSL Helpdesk to request the BSL Authorised Mark or if you have any queries regarding using the mark.
You are only permitted to use the relevant logo or mark that applies to your business or fuel, if you are unsure as to what you should be using, please contact us for further advice.
