‘Inspire Inclusion’ – International Women’s Day 2024
8 March 2024
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, under pinning the importance of understanding every woman’s uniquely personal viewpoints and achievements throughout their lives. Diversity and representation are crucial for Inspire Inclusion, with this year’s campaign encouraging a collective recognition of how women, regardless of their backgrounds, encounter barriers to inclusion. Truly diverse and inclusive communities can unlock the distinctive perspectives of women, empowering every woman to continue to achieve.
IWD is an annual celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also shines a light on areas of life – both personal and professional – that require attention to further progress towards gender equality. Through communication, public awareness, and support, implicit barriers that women all over the world face will be at the forefront of people’s minds, enabling significant progress towards inclusion and equality.
What does Inspire Inclusion mean to us?
Everyone has their own personal experiences and thoughts on inclusion. We spoke to women across the business to find out what Inspire Inclusion means to them.
Erin (Registration team)
With society’s perceptions of women being shaped so much by popular media, Inspire Inclusion means changing these for the better. Positive, realistic models in films and TV from a variety of backgrounds help create meaningful change and let women know that their experiences matter.
Serena (Head of Communications)
As National Women’s Day reminds us to champion equality, I am proud to say empowering women and inclusivity at work is key to our business. Building a collaborative environment, contributing to a better future, and celebrating success are key values to me and I’m proud to work for a company that holds the same beliefs.
Frankie (Schemes Manager)
Equality to me means understanding that women are more than just their gender. Just because a woman is a woman it does not mean she must follow the traditional notions of a woman. By acknowledging and understanding the barriers women face in all aspects of society, I believe we can take important steps in valuing the unique perspectives every woman has to offer.
Alice (Marketing team)
To me, Inspire Inclusion means celebrating diversity. Allowing those from different backgrounds to embrace their uniqueness and feel empowered is so important; women should feel encouraged to celebrate who they are and feel included by the communities and organisations around them. The more people that are aware of initiatives they can take to be more inclusive, the closer we will get to equality.
